Well, it's almost youth season and we are gettin' fired up. We only have two spots left in our MoKids youth hunt, so if its your first time, you have a special need or you need someone to take them, email me at email@example.com.
Halloween is right around the corner. All the kids are excited to put on their costume, go trick-or-treating and collect all the candy that they can. That is the tradition of Halloween. Adults dress up and usually consume too much of that liquid gold and make a fool of themselves. Halloween doesn't stop there though: people have started to get their dogs in the Halloween festivities.
I think living in the Midwest is great. You can see all kinds of things in nature, whether it be crickets, birds, squirrels, the occasional bear or whatever. However, I like to key in on insects and this week one caught my eye.
Last Saturday (Sept. 30), Kevin Walker and I had the opportunity to judge the contests at the 2nd Annual Bark in the Park event at Liberty Park in Sedalia. There were a ton of great dogs there and we had a great time meeting them all!
A lot of great stuff seems to be going on with our Sedalia Parks Department, and this weekend, they're working with the Sedalia Kennel Club. Their creative minds always seem to find something new and fun to do, not just for the kids, but for the whole family! That's truly evidenced by this weekend's event for Bark in the Park!
It's been almost a week and no one has come forward to return Willie Nelson's armadillo. The creature -- who goes by the affectionate nickname "Ol' Dillo" -- was swiped from a sound console after a show in Port Chester, N.Y. last week. Video footage shows the crime as it happened.
Every country music fans knows there's one thing Miranda Lambert can't resist: Dogs in need. Their size and breed doesn't matter -- she's taken in anything from bloodhounds to puppies in ditches -- and now, she's brought home another one, this time at the request of a 6-year-old fan.
Many people in our area love the outdoors. Since we have so many great agricultural groups and organizations, this kind of stuff goes hand in hand. One event that's coming up this Saturday will be the best of those two worlds.
