Carrie Underwood's "Church Bells" video offers up-close view into her current Storyteller Tour.

Seconds before Underwood takes the stage to screams from her adoring fans, she's spotted walking backstage in the video — and she's all smiles. As the chants of "Carrie, Carrie, Carrie!" get louder, she rises from the stage to even more screams in a short yellow ensemble. Fog, lasers and spotlights engulf her.

The banjo-driven track tells the tale of a woman who gets revenge on her abusive husband. Meanwhile, the video for the song is a replica of Underwood's nightly tour. Whether she's on harmonica, acoustic guitar or simply running around the stage singing her songs, the excitement of her live show is evident throughout the nearly four-minute clip.

“Church Bells” was written by Zach Crowell, Brett James and Hillary Lindsey, and as Crowell recently told Taste of Country, he had the song title in mind.

“Oddly enough, I’m usually the music guy, but I’d had that title for a few weeks, and I’d looked on my calendar and thought that would be a cool Carrie Underwood thing, so I should wait to write that with Brett and Hillary,” Crowell says. “I didn’t necessarily know how to write it; I just knew I had the title.”

Crowell had laid out a blueprint for the music track of the song, so by the time James and Lindsey came in, they flushed out the subject matter.

“I don’t know if I had ever written a song before where you have to kill off one of the people, and it was kind of fun. I remember kinda giggling, talking about, ‘Okay, how should we kill this guy?'” he recalls. “I remember sitting there saying, ‘Oh, this is kind of awesome, to think kind of like a Hollywood screenwriter would come up with something."
