Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley discovered an emotional surprise when he arrived to his  hotel room in Las Vegas for the 2018 ACM Awards. A window in the country star's room overlooks the empty parking lot where last year, at the October 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival, a gunman claimed the lives of 58 country concert-goers and injured over 800 more.

Kelley said the view came as a surprise, but that it serves as an important reminder of the tragedy that weighs heavy on the hearts of country stars and fans alike as they ready for tonight's awards ceremony. "Had no idea this was was gonna be our view for a couple days here in Vegas for the ACMs, but I'm glad it was," Kelley shared in an Instagram post, as the caption for a picture of the somber scene.

"It made it more real than ever," the country singer went on to say. "Every day, I've taken some time a couple times a day to pray over this lot, the lost, and all the families and fans affected by this terrible act. I'm learning in my life it's better to face the uncomfortable, the fear, the crazy head on."

Kelley is just one of the many country superstars planning to honor the victims of the Route 91 shooting by wearing gold pins bearing the numbers 851, 58 and 1. The numbers  represent the 851 people injured in the attack, the 58 killed, and 1 represents unity. "To all of those still living with the memories, injuries and emotional trauma of that night, we want you to know we love you and you are not forgotten. Today we honor you by wearing an 851 pin. Let's shine brighter than ever, for only light can drive out the darkness," Kelley added.

The 2018 ACM Awards are set to air live on CBS beginning at 8PM ET. Reba McEntire will be hosting the show.
