When Blake Shelton took on hosting duties for the 2016 Kids' Choice Awards, he likely knew that things would get a little ... messy. During the Saturday night (March 12) event, the country star turned himself green with a good old-fashioned sliming.

"You guys did an awesome job of controlling the show tonight. But it's my turn to control the show," Shelton told the crowd. "I've got one last surprise for you all: slime."

And, with that, the singer set off green slime waterfalls, which shot from the front of the stage out onto the audience. Acting like the Oprah Winfrey of slime, Shelton gave the crowd "[s]lime for you! And slime for you!"

But Shelton is never one to take himself too seriously, and so he got himself in on the slime action as well. After he was through sliming the crowd -- who, really, didn't seem to mind too much -- he revealed that he had "a little bit of slime for this guy," asked the audience to help count him in ... and slimed himself. In addition to his hosting duties, Shelton was nominated for Favorite Male Vocalist at the fan-voted awards show. The 2016 Kids' Choice Awards were Shelton's first time hosting the KCAs.

“I’ve been on countless stages throughout my life, but none have promised the madness, excitement and endless slime as Nick’s Kids’ Choice Awards," Shelton said prior to the event.

Shelton, who is once again a coach for Season 10 of The Voice, is also currently on the road on his 2016 tour.
