It's a bird ... it's a plane ... it's Blake Shelton. The singer played hero on Friday, rescuing four men stuck in a mud hole near the Washita River in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Shelton returned home last week after taping The Voice, and happened upon four men in need of help. In an interview with E! News, one man explains how he, a cousin and two friends found themselves in trouble.

"We were at the river looking and slid off into a mud hole for about two hours," Bryar Blanton tells E! News. "Then me and my buddy Adrian started walking and Blake Shelton stopped and asked if we needed some help." Entertainment Tonight reports the other men were Adrian Poplin, Lenyell Blanton and Josh Turner. Shelton was with his dog Betty.

After trying unsuccessfully to free them with his truck, Shelton left for something bigger.

"He said he'd be back in 15 minutes with his tractor. He came back and got us out and chatted for a minute and talked to us about hunting," Blanton recalls. "Blake is an all around good caring guy."

Blanton later thanked Shelton on Twitter while the country singer offered some helpful advice.

This isn't the first time Shelton has played the part of good samaritan. In June, the singer found a driver stranded after a flood in Oklahoma and pulled him and his car to safety and then drove him home after the ordeal.

"It was great," Roho Hartman says of Shelton's help during the flood. "He’s a good fella I think; I like him."

Look for Shelton at Country Jam in Colorado Springs, Colo. next June.
