Blake Shelton has released the music video for his newest single, "Came Here to Forget."

The black-and-white "Came Here to Forget" video opens with a long-haired girl walking, alone, along a beach. When the clip cuts to the singer, seated at a classy-looking beachside bar and sippin' something strong, viewers know it's only a matter of time until their paths cross -- and, sure enough, she strolls in during the song's first chorus. The two strike up a conversation, and soon, he is watching her dance along with the beach bar's band. "Came Here to Forget" is the first single from Shelton's forthcoming new album, If I'm Honest, set for release on May 20. The The Voice coach didn’t write “Came Here to Forget” himself — Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan did — but he calls it “a direct look into my life.” Shelton has stated previously that his next project will be heavily influenced by the ups and downs he’s been through in the last year.

“I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons … I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, and that’s put all I’ve gone through and put it into music, and I never felt more connected to a record before,” he explains. “When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”

"Came Here to Forget" is available for download on iTunes.
