Bebe Rexha is ruling the country charts right now, thanks to "Meant to Be," a collaboration with Florida Georgia Line. It's Rexha's first foray into country and her first success story, and she's thankful that the community has been so accepting.

“Here I am this girl that grows up in the pop world, and I write a song with Florida Georgia Line and it’s one of the biggest songs I’ve put out in my life,” she says (quote via Nash Country Daily). “And I think it’s just a record that was honest and true. And I think that people really connected with it on a deeper level."

"Meant to Be" has spent a notable amount of time atop Billboard's Hot Country Songs — an impressive 20 weeks. The song now ranks third in a list of songs with the longest runs on the chart, behind Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road," which spent 34 weeks at No. 1 last year, and FGL's "Cruise," which held at No. 1 for 24 weeks in 2013.

Rexha, FGL’s Tyler Hubbard, Josh Miller and David Garcia wrote "Meant to Be" together during a late-night writing session. It was the duo's first time meeting Rexha and their first write together. Now, the song is nominated in the category of Top Country Song at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards on May 20.

“To me, it’s saying that the [country music community] is willing to allow me in because they really respect the song,” Rexha says. “And that’s the most important thing for me, more than anything, is for people to respect my music and my songwriting more than anything."

Rexha and Florida Georgia Line also performed together at the 2018 ACM Awards.
