Basketball began with a bang November 3 & 4 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center at State Fair Community College with the McDonald's Classic.

There's a few changes that have taken place for the new year of round ball for the Roadrunners.

First off the men's team has a new head coach in Matt Brown. Brown is in his first season as head coach for the Roadrunners. He has served as an assistant coach at West Virginia University in Morgantown and the University of Richmond.

Also joining the the men's coaching staff is Mark Mueller. Mueller has joined the men’s basketball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. His prior coaching experience includes assistant men’s basketball coach at Central Methodist University along as teacher and boys basketball coach In the Columbia Public Schools. He also worked at Columbia College as the associate head men’s basketball coach from August 1996 to February 2007. Prior to his time at Columbia College, Mueller served as the head men’s basketball coach at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley from June 1994 to August 1996.

For the Lady Roadrunners this year, head coach Kevin Bucher adds assistant coach Jade Perry. Perry comes from the State University of New York at Canton where she was the head women’s basketball coach from May 2016 to March 2017. Perry served as a graduate assistant basketball coach at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska. From 2011 to 2013, she was the head basketball coach at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in the District of Columbia where she led her team to an undefeated season. Perry earned St. Patrick’s Coach of the Region in 2012.

Perry had an outstanding career as a student-athlete at the University of Maryland where she helped her team to an NCAA National Championship in 2006.
