March 15, 2013 The Mid-Missouri Outlaws are ready for the 2013 season to begin. The off-season has been full of changes as the Outlaws joined the new Champions Professional Indoor Football League after being in the American Professional Football League since their inception indoors in 2010. Last year's Head Coach Ben Lyles is now the General Manager, last year's defensive coordinator Jason Pallo has become the Head Coach, and there are some new assistant coaches, Caleb and Skip Crooker. Even the cheerleaders had a change as Kim Lockard stepped up from being choreographer last year to being the Bootlegger Coach.
March 15, 2013 There are a lot of proposals that come and go in Jefferson City, and one that is gaining attention is one proposed by Missouri State Representative Delus Johnson, a Republican from St. Joseph. Johnson is proposing that Missouri should suspend the requirement of wearing a motorcycle helmet for bikers during the month of August.
March 12, 2013 March always is the best time of year for college basketball. While there is much attention devoted to the NCAA Basketball Tournament, there is also the National Invitation Tournament and the College Basketball Invitational. There are plenty of tournaments to go around in the post season.
One of the things I would like to see is a little in-state rivalry popup between the Missouri NCAA Division 1 teams. Can you even name the teams that fall in this category? Go ahead, I'll give you a second. I have to admit, I had to look it up to make sure I got them all.
March 10, 2013 UPDATE: Pending results of toxicology tests conducted during an autopsy held late this morning in Columbia, Coroner Skip Smith has tentatively determined Saturday's death of a rural Sedalia man to be from natural causes.
March 8, 2013 Before I tell you about the Johnson County Fire Auxiliary Spaghetti dinner and auction, let me tell you that I grew up in the rural areas of Knob Noster in Country Acres, and at one point, we had lightening hit our house and it caused a fire. The Knob Noster Volunteer Department came out and made sure all was okay. Ever since that moment, I realized the importance of having a good fire department around. Whether it be city owned or volunteer, I appreciate our firefighters.
March 8, 2013 The Scholastic Book Fair is being held at Skyline Elementary this week, and each time they host this event, they have a themed day for the public to come out and learn having fun as a family.
March 5, 2013 A few months ago, Bruce put up a poll about what restaurants you’d like to see in Sedalia. The top five choices were very good options, but one that I would have liked to have seen is one I visited this weekend, Fuddruckers.
March 4, 2013 I have been a big fan of The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice on NBC over the last few years. This season, Donald Trump decided to give celebrities a second chance on the show. I have to admit, I was very excited to see Gary Busey back since his Buseyisms always made me laugh on his previous season. I was also pleased to see Brett Michaels come back after winning it a few seasons ago, Trace Adkins finished second, and then there are the bad boys Dennis Rodman, Stephen Baldwin and Omarosa. I have to say all these parings got me excited in addition to the ladies on the show.
February 28, 2013 Winter Storm Rocky may be out of the area, but it has caused a lot of havoc in Sedalia. The Central Missouri Coop had over 3,000 customers without power. KCP&L had about 700 customers without power in Pettis County and thousands more across the region. The Missouri Department of Transportation has not had very much downtime since Winter Storm Q from last week, and they continue to try and keep Highways 13, 50, 65 and 70 open as best they can.
