December 24, 2012 Each year Better Country KIX 105, 92.3 BOB FM and Newstalk 1050 KSIS love to track Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. I am pleased to tell you that he is in full Christmas toymaking mode. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has put into place the holiday countdown and has games and daily activities for kids and adults.
December 18, 2012 The end of the year brings the mad dash for my fellow employees to try and take some time off for the holidays, so I am off for three days this week. Nothing like taking time off to do last minute shopping for the holidays! However, I also volunteered to help out the Skyline Elementary 3rd Grade for a day putting together gingerbread houses.
December 18, 2012 Christmas is getting closer and closer, and the good boys and girls are writing up their final Christmas letters and wish lists to Santa Claus. I am pleased to tell you that a lot of the letters that were sent early have made it to the North Pole, and Santa knows more are on its way. I'm also pleased to let you know that each year Newstalk 1050 KSIS, has had a chance to get updates from Steve The Elf on some of the letters have made it to Santa.
December 17, 2012 We’re about a week away from Christmas, a time when many start to pay attention to the forecast to see if a "White Christmas" is likely. The way our weather has been lately with temperatures in the 40s, 50s and 60s lately, it seems unlikely.
December 15, 2012 The Sprint Center in Kansas City announced today that due to illness, Carrie Underwood's show scheduled for tonight, Saturday, Dec. 15, at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. has been rescheduled to May 1, 2013. As a result of the Kansas City date change, Carrie’s show in Springfield, Ill. will be moved to May 6. Tickets for the original Kansas City date will be honored on the new date and all other show dates remain as scheduled.
December 12, 2012 Brad Pollitt, Assistant Superintendent of the Sedalia School District, addressed the recent rumors of kids possibly committing violent acts at Smith-Cotton High School in an interview this morning. After a joint investigation with school officials, the student resource officer and the Pettis County Juvenile Office, no credible threats of violence were found. The rumored acts were said to be surrounding what ancient Mayans claimed to be the end of the world.
December 12, 2012 The University of Central Missouri is busy with finals week. However, University President Charles Ambrose took the time recently to try and get the UCM mascot, Mo The Mule, into the holiday spirit. Let's see how Ambrose's charm and spirit of UCM wins over Mo The Mule.
December 11, 2012 The last two weeks before Christmas is always full of last minute shopping and getting things ready for Dec. 25. One of the great traditions that is done at about this point is the annual end of the year letter with a Christmas card, which is usually the end of the year family photo.
December 6, 2012 The holiday season has many different holidays that are celebrated, whether it be Christmas on Dec. 25, Chanukah starting on Dec. 8, Kwanzaa starting on Dec. 26 or a few others that are celebrated around the world. However, one that I celebrated when I was living in Germany is celebrated today (Dec. 6). It is St. Nicholas Day. This is not the day he was born as you may think, but is the day he died in AD 343, and thus is called the St. Nicholas Feast Day.
December 6, 2012 We are less than 20 days away from Christmas, and the retail industry is still abuzz over much improved sales over 2011. This week I visited several stores to get my Christmas shopping started. All of the store employees I talked to all said business was staying brisk this year. It got me to thinking; when you go holiday shopping, what city do you like to go shopping in?
