The 2012 Missouri State Fair, marks the 50th anniversary of the Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department, who are the most unique firefighters in the state. The reason for this is because the department itself only exists for two weeks out of the year during the Missouri State Fair.
One of the major backbones of any county or state fair is the 4-H organization, which has its own building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds to showcase all the county winners for things like art, photography, quilting, baking, cooking and much more.
Shortly after the Sioux City Bandits won the APFL Football Championship over the Council Bluffs Express, the Bandits announced they would spearhead a new league, called the Champions Professional Indoor Football League. I had a couple of duties throughout Saturday (August 11) that I like to call the perks of the job. I hung out in the Bud Tent to introduce Jason Cassidy at the 2 p.m. show. Even though he was running a little bit behind since he had a late night in Wichita, he played an assortment of music from Montgomery Gentry to Jamey Johnson, and then music from his new CD on A Blake Records, My Redemption. He shared a story during the set that the title track was that he got away from going to church and then sometime when he met his wife, he came back to the church. He got a good round of applause for that and also the set he put on. If you missed out on him, you can see him play again today (Sunday, August 12) at 2 and 6 p.m.

Those who are active military, military, veterans, an delayed entry recruits with appropriate I.D. will get in for free and immediate family members will get in for $1. Plus, there will be $5 off carnival ride wristbands at the Midway ticket booth with coupon available at the admission gate.
