Bruce
You never know what you will get when you tune in to the Bruce in the Morning Show. I will make fun of just about anybody and anything. If it's on your brain, then we can talk about it, so I always invite you to be a part of the show.
About 20 people gathered outside the Stauffacher Center on the State Fair Community College campus for the "Speak Out Against Domestic Violence" candlelight vigil on October 23. While the wind prevented the candles from staying lit, the speakers didn't disappoint.
When I think about my childhood and the vacations we went on, I wonder if my parents were gluttons for punishment. My father, the high school math teacher, and my mother would put me, my brother and my sister in the back seat of the car and start the drive. It was almost always to Clearwater, Florida to visit my grandparents.
For the last 10 years, six of those in Sedalia, I have played the National Anthem each morning before the show. It is generally not something I point out nor do I put a lot of pomp and circumstance around it. I just play it. Last week, a friend of mine contacted me to tell me that she used my show as a history lesson.
It seems her cousin who is in 6th grade didn't know what our National Anthem was. He had heard it before my show, but never knew the meaning behind it. I count this as a pretty big failure on several levels, and I started to think of all the different ways I've heard the song done.
Sedalia is known as the "State Fair City," the "Cradle of Ragtime" and "Home of the Goober Burger." I posed this question on my Facebook page the other day: if you could write a slogan for Sedalia, what would it be?
As the host of the Red Dirt Music Hour, I get to listen to a lot of music that isn't on the main stream charts. One of the bands that really has my attention is The Josh Abbott Band.
Josh graduated from Texas Tech and decided he wanted to be a performer one night at a Randy Rogers Band concert. The rest, as they say, is history.
It was a perfect afternoon for a parade. The sun that had been hiding all day decided to come out just in time for the Sedalia Police to lead the procession. You can view the photos from the parade here.
I thought about telling you what I think should happen to a man that abuses a woman, but then I figured the images that it would conjure are too graphic to put on this site. Suffice it to say that I think they should be dealt with swiftly and severely.
There are several different types of abuse. Physical, sexual violence/abuse, psychological and economic. Many times, multiple forms will manifest themselves in an abusive relationship. Women sometimes stay in these situations way too long. You DO have a choice.
I recently found a costume of a sexy hamburger online. I found it to be ridiculous. Then I started thinking about other costumes that don't need to be made sexy. Margaret Thatcher, Hilary Clinton and Janet Reno immediately came to mind. I just knew that other people would be able to name more so I posed the question on the Bruce in the Morning Show Facebook page.
Her credits include 'Numb3rs', 'General Hospital' and 'Rules of Engagement'. Now she plays a doctor on NBC's (12/712HD on Charter Communications) new show 'Chicago Fire' that premieres tonight (October 10) at 9 p
According to a survey of young adults by a candy company called Maynards, technology makes it easier for people to prank their friends, but the old-school ways are still the best.
Forty percent of people between 18 and 24 said that technology makes it more likely that they'll play a joke on their friend, and three of the top five pranks can be done with a cell phone. But the most popular prank is the oldest one in the book. Here are the top five most popular pranks:
