Alan Jackson missed the 2018 ACM Honors on Wednesday night (Aug. 22) due to illness, but the singer was well represented nonetheless. Jackson's daughter, singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton and more helped honor the country icon during the ceremony.

Those who attended the 2018 ACM Honors ceremony likely noticed Jackson's absence: He was this year's ACM Cliffie Stone Icon Award recipient, in honor of how he's grown country music in popularity, in various ways, throughout his lengthy career. During the ceremony, co-hosts Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi sang Jackson's song "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow," while Stapleton performed "Here in the Real World." Jackson's oldest daughter, Mattie, accepted her father's honor on his behalf.

"Just want to thank everybody at the ACMs for honoring me with Cliffie Stone Award last night at the Ryman. I'm sorry I couldn't be there to personally accept it," Jackson writes on Instagram, also thanking his daughter and his fellow country artists for honoring him during the show. "And most of all, thank you to my fans for their prayers and well wishes as I continue to recover from a respiratory infection."

Jackson's respiratory infection also led to the cancellation of two tour stops, on Aug. 16 and 17. In his note on social media, the singer says he's "on the mend and will be back to normal soon!"

The ACM Honors, which take place annually in August, at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, recognize the year's special awards honorees and those who did not receive their honors on camera at the 2018 ACM Awards ceremony back in April. In addition to Jackson, the evening's honorees included Dierks BentleyDarius RuckerSam Hunt, Matraca Berg and more.
