If you're a sports fan, particularly one of year's past involving the Big Eight and the Big 12, you know of the border war between MU and KU.

Well this time we're jumping across the state line for what could be a new Guiness record for people wearing holiday sweaters. In a article in the Kansas City Star, the Jayhawks play host to Montana at 1 p.m. Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse. The previous mark was a gathering of people wearing 1,175 holiday sweaters set Dec. 10, 2014 at Loughborough University in Loughborough, England. Of course there are certain rules that have to be followed by Kansas fans, but they have a good chance to set a new record. With an anticipated crowd of 16,300, (A sell-out crowd) KU needs just 1,176 people in the knitted apparel mood.

Now what defines a holiday sweater?  According to the powers-to-be at Kansas, a holiday sweater has “long sleeves and at least one holiday themed item on it (i.e. reindeer, trees, snowman, peppermint candies, lights, etc.)”
