According to a press release from the Missouri Lottery, there has been another area winner of $50,000.

By their own admission, the only time John and Cynthia Dawson seem to play the Missouri Lottery is when the mood strikes. Boredom was the mood of choice on August 17th when the couple purchased a “10X Crossword” Scratchers ticket from Warrensburg Shell, located at 221 E. Young Avenue, in Warrensburg.
“We were driving through on our way to the State Fair,” began John.
“We picked a ‘Crossword’ ticket so I could pass some time while we were driving,” added Cynthia.
The decision paid off for the Centerview couple in the form of a $50,000 top prize, even if they didn’t initially realize how much they had won.
“We thought it was $5,000 at first,” continued John. “We didn’t know it was $50,000 until we stopped at the same gas station in Warrensburg on our way home. The entire staff started screaming.”
Faced with a financial struggle of purchasing a new saxophone for one of their four children for the new school year, the parents plan to invest part of their prize into a new instrument. The remainder of their $50,000 prize will go towards paying off their home.
“10X Crossword” is a $3 crossword-inspired game that was officially introduced on May 25. The Dawsons claimed one of eight $50,000 prizes available in the game, with more than $6.2 million in total prizes remaining.
