The 2013 Missouri State Fair begins today with the theme “Chicks Dig It.” Today (Aug. 8) is the opening day Two Buck Bonanza. Each person six and over will get into the Missouri State Fair for $2.

The Opening Day Ceremony will feature the dedication at the New MFA Livestock Arena at 10 a.m. The Opening Day Parade will start at 6 p.m. at State Fair Boulevard.

Plan to take in the entertainment throughout the Missouri State Fairgrounds. This year the Welde's Big Bear Expedition will be showcased each day of the Fair. The Welde's are proud to bring their beautiful family of bears as ambassadors for bears in the wild. They will perform at noon, 3 p.m. And 6:30 p.m. Everyday, except on Sunday, Aug. 18 when they perform at noon, 3 p.m. And 6 p.m. They will be in the Kids Zone Area. The Kids Stage will have Thank A Farmer Magic Show, Babaloo Music and Fun, Spoon Man and contests throughout the Fair.

Back by popular demand is the Amazing Anastasini Circus North of the Carnival Midway Entrance with shows at 1, 5 and 8 p.m. Each day except Sunday, August 18, when they perform at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.

The Auctioneers' Bid Calling Contest at the Mathewson Exhibition Center at 10 a.m. The Speech and Talent competition of the Missouri State Fair Queen Pageant will be at the Mathewson Exhibition Center at 2 p.m., and Cowboy Mounted Shooting will be at the Mathewson Exhibition Center at 6 p.m.

There is so much free entertainment this year, you're sure to get a lot of bang for $2 admission today. Be sure to check the daily guide as events can come up during the Missouri State Fair.

The Bud Stage will feature Curtis Grimes at 2 and 6 p.m. the Nace Brothers at 9 p.m. and the Missouri State Fair Idol goes at 2 p.m.

The evening's Pepsi Grandstand lineup has Chris Cagle and Will Hoge starting at 7:30 p.m.
