According to a recent press release, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has arrested Toby Gregory, of Bland, Missouri, for 1st degree murder.

 

On August 4, 2016, at the request of Owensville Police Chief Robert Rickerd, members of the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, Troop F, began conducting an investigation into the shooting death of 30-year old Inez Gregory. Gregory was found dead outside her hotel room at the Owensville Motor Inn on Thursday evening (August 4).  Her husband, 42-year old Toby Gregory, was found in the parking lot of the hotel, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Toby Gregory was transported to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he remains hospitalized and in police custody.
Friday afternoon (August 5), the Gasconade Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Toby Gregory with 1st degree murder and armed criminal action. Bond has been set at $500,000.
This investigation is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, August 8, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.  The Patrol has been assisted by the Owensville Police Department and the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office.


 

The above charge is a mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of this charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
